Beginning January 1st 2012 with the 5010 conversion, the billing provider and service facility address must be a physical street address. You are no longer allowed to use a P.O. Box, Lockbox, or any other address other than a physical street address.
When entering your billing provider address in Therabill, we try to detect whether you are entering a PO Box and stop you from doing it. If you received this error, most likely, you tried to get around our filters and sneak a PO Box in the address line (sneaky you) by hiding it within an address. But keep in mind that our filters are there for a reason. All payers will reject your claim if they detect a PO Box (or any other address other than a physical street address). Do NOT enter a PO Box as your billing provider address.
What if I want payment to go to a P.O. Box?
You are still required to send your physical street address as the billing address on the claim. However, the 5010 format now allows what is called a Pay To address. You can enter a PO Box as the pay to address on your electronic claims. To enter a Pay To address follow these instructions.
- Click Admin in the top navigation bar of Therabill.
- You will now see your member information. At the bottom of the member information, you will see a Pay to address link. Click the pay to address link to add your P.O. Box.
