Some CPT (or procedure codes) should always go out with 1 unit. That is, for some procedures you are NOT being paid for how long the service lasted. You are being paid for the service in general. For example, if this was an evaluation, then by putting 1 unit, you are saying I performed one evaluation and you are being paid for one evaluation. For an evaluation, if you entered 4 units, you are telling the payer that you performed 4 evaluations.
In Therabill, you can edit the number of units on the edit session form. There are various ways in Therabill to get to the edit session form, however, you are probably reading this because you received this error message. Therefore, in the article we will explain how to edit it from the error page in Therabill.
Editing the session from the error page
On the right of the error page, you will see the date(s) of service included on the claim that came back in error. You can click on those dates to open up the edit session form for that particular session. Once you have the edit session form open, at the bottom left, you will see the CPT codes, the number of units, and the charge amount. Change the number of units and then click the Save & Done button at the bottom of the edit session form.
Now, back at the error page, simply click the Resubmit Electronically button at the top to resend those claims with the new information.
