Many insurance companies will require a CPT code line item note when using certain service codes (CPT codes) that are indicated as non-specific. This error message is indicating that they are requiring a line item note for the CPT code that you are using.
How do I know when a CPT requires a line note?
The line note is usually required with non-specific procedure codes (CPT codes). Non-specific codes may include in their descriptors terms such as: Not Otherwise Classified (NOC); Unlisted; Unspecified; Unclassified; Other; Miscellaneous.
In Therabill, you can add the CPT line item note on the add / edit session form under the Billing & Coding section. In the billing and coding section of the add / edit session form, underneath the place where you enter the service code (CPT code), you will see a text box labeled Line Note (see image to the right). Enter a short description of the service in that text box..
