They are referring to a Zip code that you have entered on the claim. Unfortunately, they are not being specific as to which Zip code is invalid. Here are various places to check. The directions for viewing and editing the various Zip codes on this page assume you are starting at the error message. The error message is the link you receive on your dashboard when you receive an electronic (EDI) error. For instructions on managing electronic errors, please see: EDI Error Handling in Therabill.
The Insurance Company Zip code (this is typically what this specific error message is pointing to).
Click the edit icon next to the client. On the edit client form that opens up, click the blue pencil next to the insurance card on the right hand side of the page. This will open up the edit insurance card form. On the right, underneath the insurance company name, you will see the insurance company address (it is in blue text, as a link). Click the link to view / edit the insurance companies Zip code. Remember, the last thing you should do before you close the edit client form is to click the green Save button at the bottom of the edit client form.
The Client / Patient Zip code
Click the edit icon next to the client name on the right of the error page. The edit client form will open up. Make sure the Zip code you have entered for the client is valid. If you make any changes, remember to save.
The Insured's Zip code
Click the edit icon next to the client. On the edit client form that opens up, click the blue pencil next to the insurance card on the right hand side of the page. This will open up the edit insurance card form. On the left, in the insured's demographics, make sure you have the Zip code entered correctly. Remember, the last thing you should do before you close the edit client form is to click the green Save button at the bottom of the edit client form.
Your billing provider Zip code
On the right of the error page, click the edit icon next to the billing provider (NOTE: There are two providers listed: the billing provider and the rendering provider). The rendering provider Zip code does NOT go on the claim, therefore, you really only need to check the billing provider zip code. Clicking the edit icon next to the billing provider will open up the appropriate billing provider edit form for this claim. That is, if the claim went out with your default billing provider information, then it will open up the edit member form. If the claim went out with group information, then it will open up the edit group form. If the claim went out with insurance company specific billing provider (ICSBP) information, then it will open up the edit ICSBP form.
Resubmitting the claim
Once you have located the source of the error and updated the Zip code. You can then click the Resubmit Electronically button at the top of the error page (The Therabill Electronic Claim Error Page).
