This rejection is the payer telling you that they are not the payer to submit to. You may want to call the phone number on the insurance card that you received from the client and ask them what payer ID they want you to submit claims to. Make sure that matches the payer ID (insurance company) that you have entered on the insurance card in Therabill.
Blue Cross / Blue Shield of California
This rejection is often received when submitting to Blue Shield of California or to Blue Shield of California. Make sure you are submitting to the correct one.
Payer ID complications
At this time, there is not a national database of Payer ID's. The payer ID is often assigned by the clearinghouse that is receiving and sending on the claim. For this reason (and until there is a national database of payer ID set up by the government), some judgement has to be used when deciding the payer ID. For example, you may call the payer and they tell you to submit to Payer ID XXXXX. However, the clearinghouse that Therabill submits to has their payer ID as YYYYY. Therabill submits most claims through the Office Ally or Availity clearinghouses. If you are on the phone with the payer, ask them if they have a payer ID through those clearinghouses.
