Copy Client / Patient in Therabill

You may come across a time when you need to create a new client in Therabill where the new clients information is almost identical to another client that you already have entered in to Therabill.  Maybe you are seeing a patient for two different disciplines (for example, Speech and Physical Therapy) and you want to create two separate medical records for the patient.  Or, maybe you are seeing siblings where all of the information is pretty much the same except for their first name.   For scenarios like this, Therabill has a Copy Client feature that can help you perform this copy quickly.

How do I copy a client to a new client

The copy client feature is located on the add client form.  First, open up the add client form as if you were going to be entering a new client.  At the top left of the add client form, you will see a button labeled Copy (see image below, circled in red).

Click the Copy button and a small form will open up (see image to the right).  In the text box, start typing the name of the client that you want to copy from.  When you see that client's name in the drop down menu that appears as you type, click on the client's name. Once you have selected the client by clicking on their name in the drop down menu, click the copy button to the right.  The form will disappear and the add client form will now be filled in with the information from the client that you chose as the copy from client.   All you have to do is add an identifier (see below, section What about the identifier?). The new client has not been created yet.  To create the new client, click the Save button at the bottom of the add client form.

What about the identifier?

Therabill will not allow you to add two clients with the same first and last name without using an identifier to set them apart.   The identifier is a small code (that you come up with) to distinguish between the two clients in a client list.  For example, if you were creating a two entries for a client to create a Speech and and Physical Therapy medical record, then you might use the identifiers SLP and PT, respectively.  However, the codes that you come up with as identifiers are completely up to you.  The code just needs to be short (1 to 4 characters in length).
