This article applies to documentation through the custom documentation feature of Therabill and assumes that you have already set yourself up by creating your forms and fields. For an instructional video on how to set up your custom documentation, please see our webinar, How to Document Your Therapy Sessions Within Therabill.
What is Expand Input Field?
The default size of the narrative text areas in the custom documentation (under the Documentation tab of the add / edit session form) are not very tall (see image to the right). This is for space saving reasons (you don't have to scroll down forever to view all of your different fields). While the short/small narrative fields are convenient for saving space, sometimes, they are not convenient when you are typing long lengths of text into them.
When you are typing long text into the short narrative text field, it can be difficult because you can't see all of the text that you have typed. Therabill has two different ways to create a larger area for you to type in. The first way, is to use the functionality that is already built in to some web browsers. If your web browser has this functionality, you can click on the lower right corner of the text area (see image above, red circle) and drag the cursor down to temporarily expand the text area. This will allow you to enter long text and see everything as you are typing. When you go back to the documentation at a later date, the box will be back to its normal size.
The second way is by using a small feature called Expand Input Field that will create a larger area for you to type into.
Using the Expand Input Field option
At the top right of every narrative text area, you will see the expand icon . If you would like a larger area to type in, click that expand icon. The current narrative you are typing into will be expanded to a larger input area (see image to the right). In the example shown in the image to the right, we have expanded the Assessment narrative. We now have a lot more room to type in to. When you are finished, click the green Done button located at the top right to go back to the original unexpanded view.
