Attach / Upload Multiple Files with Drag and Drop

Therabill allows you to upload a file from your computer and store it on the Therabill server (storage rates may apply).  In addition, you can attach files that you have uploaded to one or more clients and / or attach the uploaded file to a session.  If you have multiple files that you need uploaded and you are using a modern browser (with HTML 5 capabilities), then you can easily upload them by drag and drop into Therabill.  You can do this from your general attachments filing cabinet, the filing tab on the edit client form or the edit session form.

Where I can drag and drop files?

There are several places throughout Therabill where you can drag and drop files for upload.  More places will be added over time. Following is a list of places that have been currently implemented.

From Attachments Filing

While logged in to Therabill, put your mouse over Filing in the top navigation bar and then click on Attachments in the drop down menu.  You will now be in your attachments filing cabinet.  From here, you can access any file that you have uploaded into Therabill.  At the top of the attachments page, you will see the drag and drop files area (see Using Drag and Drop below).

From Client Chart

Open up a client chart (click the edit icon associated with a client in your client list).  Click the Filing button on the edit client form.  On the left side of the client filing screen, click Attachments.  By uploading files here, the files will also be attached to the client that you have opened.

From the Session Form

Open up a session form (click the edit icon  associated with a session).  At the top of the session form, click the Filing tab.  By uploading files here, the files will also be attached to the session that you have opened.

Using Drag and Drop Files

The drag and drop files area is marked with the upload icon (see image below).  An example of a drag and drop files area is shown in the image below.

I see the upload icon in other areas, but it does not look like the image below?

The image below (complete with text and Upload Files button) is an example.  The upload icon   is the indicator that you can drag and drop files.  Other drag and drop areas in Therabill may look different.  Just look for the upload cloud icon.

To upload files, use your mouse to select the files on your computer and then drag and drop them into the drag and drop area .   If you are on a modern browser that has HTML 5 capabilities, you should now see upload progress indicators appear (see image below).

The progress bar will show a row for each file that was dropped into the file upload box.  For each file, the file name, size of the file, and an upload progress bar will be displayed.  Once the upload progress bar shows 100%, the file has been completely uploaded.  You can close the progress bar by clicking the Hide Progress Bar link at the top right of the progress bar.

The progress bar did not show when I dragged and dropped files?

It could be that your browser is not capable of drag and drop.  Please see How do I know if my browser is capable of drag and drop below.

Can I drag and drop a directory/folder?

Unfortunately, you cannot drag and drop a folder (or a directory), only individual files can be uploaded. To upload a directory of files, select all of the files within the directory and then drag all of the files into the file upload box.

How do I know if my browser is capable of drag and drop?

The ability to drag and drop files requires certain capabilities within the web browser.  These capabilities are relatively new and older (and not even that old) browsers may not have them.  Your browser must have certain User Interaction event capabilities.  To check if your browser has these capabilities, go to https://html5test.com/ using the browser that you want to check.  Once the page loads, scroll down and find the area labeled User Interaction.  Within the User Interaction section, look for Drag and Drop.  Under Drag and Drop, click the arrow next to Events.  In the list that appears, if you see a check next to each event, then you should be able to use drag and drop.

There was not a check next to each event

You will want to make sure you have updated to the most recent version of your web browser.  The most recent versions of Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer should be capable.

My browser is not capable and I do not want to update my browser

It is always a wise idea (for security reasons) to keep your browser up to date.  There are constantly bug fixes in browsers and updates to fix security holes.  However, if you cannot update your browser, you will have to upload files the old fashion way using the Upload File button.
