The short answer: You do not unconfirm sessions.
Why not?
When you confirm a session, you are indicating that the service took place (cancel/no-show included) and that the charges should be included in your A/R. If you have a past session that is not confirmed, decide whether it took place or simply delete it from your schedule.
If you still want to unconfirm a session, consider the following scenarios.
Cancelled Session
Any cancelled session should still be listed as confirmed in order to provide accurate reporting. Use Session Classes to mark a session as cancelled.
No Charge Visits
Although you may not be charging the client for the visit, it still happened. The session should be confirmed and included in your A/R. If you are not wanting to bill the client for the balance, you can use Session Classes to indicate that the session is "Client Not Billable." If desired, you can manually change the charge amount to zero.
Session Never Happened
If a session never actually occurred, it should be deleted off of your scheduled and thus removed from your A/R. As long as you have no billed insurance, posted any payments, or finalized documentation, you will be able to delete the session. For more information, please see: Delete/Cancel a Session.
The Date of Service (DOS) is Incorrect
Typographical errors do happen. There are two different methods to handle this, depending on the true date of the session.
DOS is in the Future
- Edit the session
- Change the Service date to the correct date in the future.
- Save the session. If the session was confirmed, this will unconfirm the session.
- You will have the ability to confirm the session once the DOS has arrived.
DOS is in the Past
- Edit the session
- Change the Service date to a date in the future.
- Save the session. If the session was confirmed, this will unconfirm the session.
- Edit the session again.
- Change the Service date to the correct date in the past.
- Navigate to Billing > Confirm Schedule to confirm the session.
I really, really want to unconfirm the session!
While we highly advise against unconfirming past sessions, there is a way around it. As described above, simply change the Service date to a date in the future. Once saved, edit the session and change the Service date to the desired date.
